Another school year and the start of another wrestling season is quickly coming upon us here at the University of Southern Maine . Since the inception of wrestling at USM in 1997, our Wrestling program has had (1) NCAA All American, (5) NCAA National Championships Qualifiers, (4) NCAA New England Champions, (21) NCAA All-New England Athletes and (19) NCAA Pilgrim League athletes. As a team, we are consistently ranked high in the NCAA New England Region, within all Divisions, and have defeated nationally ranked wrestling programs in dual and tournament competition such as the University of Wisconsin-OK , The College of New Jersey, Springfield College and Williams College . More impressively, USM Wrestling student-athletes have been recognized for their work in the classroom as we have had two NCAA Division III National Scholar All Americans, 11 USM William B. Wise recipients and four NCAA Pilgrim League Scholar Athlete Award winners!

The Huskies’ wrestling prides itself on a short BUT great tradition; however, as in all athletics we strive to improve in all aspects of our program. A part of developing a successful wrestling program is creating an environment that honors the efforts and accomplishments of the student-athletes. We are looking to fundraise to purchase a new Wrestling Mat (we only have 1!), recondition the Wrestling Mats in our Wrestling Room, as they are wearing down, upgrade our team equipment and recognize our Student Athletes at our post season Wrestling Awards Picnic. In addition, we need to raise money to compete in (2) prestigious Wrestling tournaments-the Las Vegas ‘Desert Duals’ in Nevada and the Oneonta State ‘Red Dragon Invitational. Participating in these meets will expose our Wrestlers to some of the BEST competition in the Country and more importantly- to make memories that last a life time!

Our wrestlers are continuously evolving and achieving in the classroom and on the mat. However, like all successful athletic programs, we need to raise funds to accomplish our goals mentioned above. I hope you will consider a gift of $25, $50, $100, $1,000 or at a level that is appropriate to your time and place in life.
