"The season is for you to show off what you did in the summer"

Camps
For Anyone:

Brands Brothers Iowa Wrestling Camp
Binghamton, NY July 13-17

This is seriously an unbelievable camp. The Brands brothers are Olympians and Gable trained, just about the best clinicians available. They are bringing a couple D1 national champions along with their asst coach Doug Schwab, who’s training for the Olympic team right now. If you can do a camp, do this one, it’s going to be run very well, with great supervision and the competition is going to range from 1st year to 10+ years of experience. There’s no explanation of how lucky this camp is so close. The intensity of this camp is probably on the level on Messiah, but don’t get me wrong, this is a great substitute for J-Rob and Messiah.

Springfield Technique School

Springfield, MA July 27-31

This camp is a solid choice. I would suggest the technique camp over the team camp because you will get more 1 on 1 attention and still have many opportunities to wrestle live. Springfield has long been the best DIII sports school in New England while consistently producing all Americans. Their coach has been there for 17 years while all of his assistants were D1 wrestlers, DIII All Americans or DIII New England champions.

2006-12-11: Head Coach Phil Hamilton

This is my first year as a head coach upon graduating and serving as a volunteer assistant at the University of Southern Maine last year. I was welcomed back after a successful career during which I set school records for wins and take downs. The first two years at USM were under the tutoring of Ted Reese, a USA Wrestling Coach of the Year in the early 90's. As a freshmen I was way below the bar, both mentally and athletically, but through the tutorage of Coach Reese I was able to turn it around in less than a year. As a sophomore I was named captain, and thought I was on my way to my first all new england honor but due to an unfortunate season ending injury it had to wait a year. My junior and senior year I was all new-england, placing at every tournament except one while winning 20+ matches in successive years.

My wrestling roots were planted many years ago when my dad had enough of my brother and I tearing up the house. My father played football and lacrosse for four years at Hartwick College in New York, and in between seasons during his junior year he gave wrestling a try. He'll be the first to tell you he wasn't very successful in his one year of wrestling, but he "spent a lot of time on his back that year while never being pinned." He knew the easiest way to have us go to bed early and stop breaking all of his antiques was for us to join the wrestling team. In third grade he introduced me to wrestling and football, followed by my brother a year later (he was able to start a year early since our dad was a coach). We were the first to start in the youth program and wrestle all the way through high school. While my brother had a better high school career (3x state champ, 6th at new england's), I chose to continue wrestling in college while he chose to play football and lacrosse at Maine Maritime. It turned out alright for the both of us as he won Scholastic football player of the year for his conference this year.

As Head Coach I look to give the program a shot in the arm and begin what I hope will become not just a state powerhouse, but a regional powerhouse, that sets an example of good sportsmanship and class. My assistant coaches and I have set very high standards for ourselves and the program. Scarborough has long been ready to embrace this program, and between my enthusiasm for the sport and the feeder system, will soon become a cornerstone in the community. My coaching staff and I will teach the kids college style technique along with mental toughness and a good work ethic. I cannot wait to see what the future holds.
